A “mommy makeover” is an extremely popular procedure that can restore and rejuvenate the body to the pre-pregnancy state. Pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding can result in significant effects on the body. All women are affected differently. During pregnancy, the abdominal skin gets stretched; often times, it does not retract back to its previous state, resulting in loose, floppy, excessive skin. During lactation, the breasts also enlarge in size stretching the overlying skin; often times, this skin does not retract back to its previous state either, resulting in sagging breasts. Sometimes, new areas of fat accumulate in places it never did before. Many patients are dissatisfied with the deflated look and desire a more youthful appearance, often complaining that clothes do to fit like they use to, or that they are ashamed to be naked. This powerful procedure can re-elevate the breasts, re-contour the abdomen, remove any unwanted fatty deposits, and rejuvenate the skin. Patients often comment on a much-improved contour, rejuvenation of the body to a youthful appearance, and increased self-confidence. Most importantly, patients feel they can return to pre-pregnancy activities.
Mommy makeover usually encompasses several components; which typically includes Breast Lift with Augmentation or just a Breast Lift, Tummy Tuck, and Liposuction. However, depending on the way the result of pregnancy has affected you, not all patients require each procedure. Some patients only want one area addressed, others may wish multiple areas corrected. Depending on your desires, during your consultation with Dr. Tsai, he will present you with all the possible options in detail and work with you to individualize treatment according to your specific goals and expectations to provide you with the best possible result. Procedure and Recovery
Each surgical procedure involved in the Mommy Makeover can be performed at the same time and is done under general anesthesia (fully asleep) in the adjacent surgicenter. The surgery typically takes 6 hours to complete, depending on what is being performed. Patients return home the same day as the procedure so transportation will need to be arranged. Your first checkup will be the following day in clinic. Bandages are removed several days after the procedure and normal daily activities can be resumed within 1-2 weeks. Pain is tolerated with prescribed oral pain medication. Exercise is resumed approximately 3-4 weeks after the procedure.
